Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT)- Abode of Excellence in Maritime Training for the past 24 years – from Pre-sea trainees to Extra First Class and everyone else in between. It is a One-Stop Destination for all Maritime Courses in India. HIMT was founded by Mr. Sanjeev S Vakil, a Mariner (Chief Engineer) and currently CEO of HIMT, in 1998 in a modest way, with a few Post Sea Maritime Courses in heart of Chennai. In a span of 3 years, HIMT became India’s largest maritime training center in terms of the number of courses approved by D.G Shipping. Ever since 2001, HIMT has retained the status of being the largest Post-Sea Centre in India, the only one of its kind, conducting over 50+ Directorate General Of India approved Maritime Courses, including all Mandatory courses and refresher courses under STCW 2010. Going forward, HIMT has set its goals of taking Maritime Training to its next dimension with the active participation of committed faculty and support of budding seafarers. HIMT has also signed MOU’s with the Govt of India for expanding its footprints across India and also in the neighboring countries to impart Quality Maritime training.
